Cherie Version 2.0

January 6, 2006

Last night, I knit up a swatch with the pink Cashsoft, gave it a bath and set it out to dry. Then, I pulled out my trusty calculator, the pattern, some graph paper and a pencil. By the time I had the original pattern drawn out on the graph paper, my swatch was dry and it was time to start putting it all together on paper….

I cast on for Cherie Version 2.0 with a single strand and a few small modifications that will ensure a good fit.

I’d cross my fingers, but they are too busy knitting!

Also, I finished the log cabin socks on Christmas Eve, but forgot to take any pictures. So, without any further ado, here’s an “action” shot…

And something just for fun…

Log Cabin Socks

December 14, 2005

I finished the first of my Log Cabin Socks a few nights ago. I’m thinking I should call them my Law & Order socks since I always seem to be watching the re-runs on cable when I get my knit on with these bad boys.

Check out the crazy green pooling on the toe!

Yes, they are boys. When I took this project on, I cast on for the women’s size and blindly knit until the heel had been turned and the gusset was nearly complete before I decided to try it on. A long string of profanities later, I realized that there was no possible way for this sock to fit on my foot. I don’t have big feet.

Rip rip rip…

I decided to try the men’s stitch pattern with the women’s gauge. The extra four stitches per round provided just enough ease without being too lose.

One down, second one started…

Now, if I can only find a way to lure Kally out from under the tree…

I don’t think blinding her with the flash helps… maybe some alpaca…

Holiday Knitting

Knit Unto Others hats:

On top, a basic 2×2 rib in progress and Stitch ‘n Bitch Nation Basic Cable both made with Plymouth Encore Worsted; on bottom, Stitch ‘n Bitch Umbilical Cord Hats in Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton Sky and Berroco Plush Precious Pink.

Next is a convertible mitten for my little brother

made with Knit Picks Wool of the Andes in Chocolate and Avocado. Chocolate brown is my favorite neutral, yet I almost never wear it…

almost…

Susan knit this scarf for me as part of the Salt Lake Stitch ‘n Bitch Winter Scarf Swap and I love it. I have worn it every day since I received it and know it will be a staple in my cold weather gear.

Speaking of our SNB WSS… Laurie’s scarf is finished and waiting for her!

AND there is a house sock in all that mess for me

using the Log Cabin Socks pattern in Handknit Holidays with Artyars Supermerino 114. Yummy!
